I think you missed point here where Google talked about long and descriptive internal anchor text linking

This is Google’s report, there is a little bit about anchor text and keeping it as descriptive as possible. Google is never going to go too deep into ranking factors but I still thought there were some pretty good points raised.

Good article. I am wondering that I do not see any anchor text in this article. Anchor text has played a crucial role on my blog.
Writing a long post (400 words or more) is also good because you will get a chance to stuff your keywords in the post.
