Hi Shaun,

Ye definitely been there and done that :)

Everything in moderation, ultimately you should try and weigh your time towards those things that return on investment.

Great post, I'll add another. Being too active on Online Forums! This is something I am guilty of myself. A lot of us participate on forums because we know it is a good way to build links. But spending too much time on forums is counterproductive. Even forums that you are learning from can be counterproductive. At some point we just need to get to work and stop going back to the same forums over and over again.

Hi Kali,

No, missing these things out is nowhere near the make or break of your online success. Where do I spend my time? Usually working with clients :) , However if I only had my own site to worry about I would probably spend 35% of my time creating quality content and 40% of my time building links through, article marketing, blog carnivals, directory submissions, competitive link analysis and guest blogging. The other 25% would be spent reading industry blogs, tweeting and trying to develop relationships that will lead to future link partnerships.

Its all about the links!

I'm thankful for your great info. I never quite managed to find five blogs to comment on, tweet ten times a day, and the myriad of other suggestions I've received. Good to know I haven't doomed my online business.

So where do you spend your time?
