Ye it is good to get as many links as possible, some links only help search engines others help users, either way its helping your site to grow. RSS subcribers is not a sure fire success metric, however I think it gives a real sense of the reach your blog/site has;

My blog hardly got any success at all until I started posting links and commenting on other websites. Of course, not only did it help me to achieve a higher SEO rating, a lot of the webmasters on sites I posted to became RSS subscribers too. Sort of a 2 for 1 deal!

“It’s All About The Links” –There is not too much to say after that. I kinda wish when I was in high school I didn’t have all those kids pointing at me saying, “there goes a geek”. It stuck!!
