There is no doubt that if you have the top spot you will most likely get the most traffic on a given keyword.

However if that keyword is associated with a particular brand and the branded site ranks 2nd or third I would be willing to bet they get the majority of clicks.

I understand your point of getting first place in terms of MFA sites as it will increase your ad revenue, however if your selling a product, building a brand is a must.

The first spot is very important for anyone who is serious about making money. I am sure that a lot of the traffic is junk, but the people who click on the site with the top spot are generally “clickers” who just keeps clicking around.

You might not be the one who wants to click on the first site that pops up, but thousands of others would.
