It is a timely process and competing with the top ten is much different to getting on second page.

Link quantity and anchor texts are the way forward, keep going and you will catch them up.

Remember the links should be continually growing, this shows your site has longevity and is not just going to be around for the short term. In fact I need to write about this in depth

My site is about 9 months old and I have seen movement in the Google rankings. But I seem to have stalled at the bottom of page 1 on Google. I think that the people above me probably have many more links.

I guess it is a long process that you just have to keep pluging away at.

Ye the age element is a bit of a pain, I always like to wait a year before I really expect anything from a brand new domain.

Concentrate on lucrative longtails for the first 6 – 8 months, then when your site has some authority start gunning down the big boys

Yes my No.1 off page factor is anchor text. There is simply no stronger factor in my opinion, every site you see dominating a particular keyword has strong anchor text optimisation.

I don’t really care what people think of it, it works.

Link age is a much smaller factor but like anything age builds trust, trust allows higher rankings.

I am also a strong believer that inbound anchor text keywords are very important. Even though there are so many factors into ranking higher, the anchor text plays a major role. I’m not too sure about the aging process of inbound links though because my blog is new!
